Although the first half of the month was reasonably warm, the second half was very cool and wet.

The Jet stream has been meandering about this summer, rather than following the more direct West - East course. The jet stream is very much influenced by solar activity and the indications are that solar activity is currently minimal: this could well lead to some much cooler weather in the months to come.

Another disappointing month and apart from the very last day of the month, when the temperature finally reached well above the 20° C mark, it was one of the coldest months of July in recent years and provided little evidence for the current global warming hypothesis.

June was a month in stark contrast to the previous three months of Spring. Rainfall was twice the June average and a brief return to warm sunshine in the second half of the month at least prevented a complete wash-out. Despite claims in the media, here, the temperatures during the mini three-day heat wave did not break records and fell short of the highs of 2005.

Although not as dry as April, May continued the trend of a very dry and sunny spring which has made this spring one of the driest on record.

The UK maritime climate is often dominated in the spring by large and slow moving anticyclones. This invaribly produces cool weather, dominated by winds mainly from the East, coupled with low rainfall, and leading to drought conditions. This April has been no exception and with rainfall of only 2.5 mm for the entire month, this has been the driest April on record in recent times.

March was a very "average" month for temperature and rainfall and very much in complete contrast to February. So typical of spring weather in this part of the World, as the month progressed, rainfall decreased and the pressure increased.

February will be remembered for wind and wet. Gales occurred on each of the four weekends of the month. Temperatures were milder than usual for the time of year and rainfall was three times higher than average with one very short period of snow.

A relatively dry January with below average rainfall and temperatures on the mild side with little in the way of frost. Blustery at times.
